Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box is transmitted to the outside provider that operates that feature. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If a visitor emails us, the message may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the communication. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is legally required.
Data We Gather Automatically
Ordinary server and analytics records may collect technical facts when a page loads:
- Device IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and time spent
- Referring site, when supplied
- Date and time of each request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files that help measure how the site is used, including popular pages and common exit points. Analytics tools combine traffic information for that purpose. A browser can reject cookies, although some site behavior may then change.
What We Do With This Data
- Operate the site and maintain reasonable loading speed
- Route a submitted search to the selected partner
- Understand which pages are useful to visitors
- Diagnose errors and technical faults
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Chaves County material explains how to reach the sheriff, detention center, courts, local police, New Mexico Department of Public Safety Law Enforcement Records Bureau, NMCD, and New Mexico DPS Sex Offender Registry. The New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act, Sections 14-2-1 and following, governs requests to covered public custodians. The Arrest Record Information Act, Section 29-10-6, addresses a person's inspection of their own repository arrest information after identity verification. Neither law turns this private site into a record custodian. We are not a consumer reporting agency and do not use visitor data to create a consumer report about anyone.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies supply the search tools. Information submitted to a partner is handled under that company's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices, not this policy. Review the partner's terms before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Chaves County offices, New Mexico courts and agencies, legal resources, and outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Advertising providers may also use their own systems to measure activity across sites.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Search partners handling a query a visitor chooses to submit
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Advertising networks serving content on the site
- A court, law-enforcement body, or government agency acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect the limited data collected. No internet system can be guaranteed free from every breach or loss. We therefore cannot promise absolute security.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. Information known to have been provided by a minor will be removed when properly identified.
Your Data Rights
Rights vary with the law that applies to the visitor and the data. A person may ask to review data we hold about them, request correction or deletion, or object to certain processing. New Mexico IPRA rights apply to public agencies and public records, not to this privately operated website; the state's criminal-history dissemination rule likewise applies to the official repository process described above.
- Request access to personal information held by us
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Seek deletion when law and operational needs permit
- Opt out of processing where an applicable law provides that choice
